Groundbreaking ceremony of KEDA Kisumu Ceramic Factory (KEDA Ceramics International Miwani Factory) has been held in the morning of August 2.

KEDA Kisumu Ceramic Factory (KEDA Ceramics International Miwani Factory), covering an area of more than 900 mu, is located in Kisumu County, the third largest city of Kenya and only 160 kilometers away from the border with Uganda. Currently one production line for architectural ceramics has been built and another for sanitary ware is under construction, with a number of others on the agenda. Upon completion, the KEDA Kisumu Ceramic Factory (KEDA Ceramics International Miwani Factory) sanitary ware project will become the largest production line of its kind in East Africa, with potentials to serve markets in neighboring African countries such as Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, further consolidating the absolute leading advantages of KEDA Ceramics as a global forerunner in the African ceramic market.

The local government has attached great importance to the KEDA Kisumu Ceramic Factory (KEDA Ceramics International Miwani Factory) project. The Minister of Trade, Industry and Enterprises Development of Kenya, Ms. Betty Maina, and the Kisumu County Governor, Mr. Peter Anyang’ Nyongo, visited the KEDA Kisumu Ceramic Factory (KEDA Ceramics International Miwani Factory) respectively on August 1 and 2 to witness its latest development.

Governor Mr. Peter Anyang’ Nyongo and General Manager of KEDA (Kenya) Ceramics Co. Ltd. Li Ruiqin jointly presided over the official opening of KEDA Kisumu Ceramic Factory (KEDA Ceramics International Miwani Factory). During his subsequent speech, the Governor extended warm welcome to the establishment of KEDA Kisumu Ceramic Factory (KEDA Ceramics International Miwani Factory) in Kisumu County, and expressed his wish for an increasingly brighter future development of the factory, and the creation of more job opportunities for the local folks. Before departure, he also personally planted an ivy tree in the factory, a plant that symbolizes both good wishes and the eternal friendship between China and Kenya.

Ms. Betty Maina, Minister of Trade, Industry and Enterprises Development of Kenya, acknowledged the development progress of KEDA Kisumu Ceramic Factory (KEDA Ceramics International Miwani Factory). She promised full government support to strengthen and boost the sustainable development of the venture, and indicated that the investment of this project plays an important role in improving the income of local residents and stimulating the economic development of the Kisumu region.

In accordance with planning, the daily production capacity of the Kisumu sanitary ware project is estimated to reach over 4,000 pieces/day. The factory will utilize internationally advanced automatic high-pressure molding equipment, which takes advantage of large output and low production cost, focusing on the manufacturing of sanitary products like two-piece toilets, wall-hung basins and one-piece toilets. Thus far, site construction is officially underway and procurement of related equipment is progressing ahead in full steam in China. The project is expected to start production in the second half of 2023.
