On February 24, 2026, President John Dramani Mahama of the Republic of Ghana, accompanied by Minister of Trade and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Western Region Governor Joseph Nelson, and Minister of Fisheries and Shama District Councillor Emelia Arthur, visited Twyford Ghana. Together with Mr. Yanchang SHEN, Chairman of Twyford International, and Mr. Lorry LI, General Manager of Twyford Ghana, they cut the sod to inaugurate Ghana's first float glass factory, invested and constructed by the company. In the enthusiastic atmosphere, guests took photos to commemorate this historic moment.

The float glass factory represents a total investment of nearly USD100 million and is designed to produce 600 tons of float glass per day, aiming to fill the gap in Ghana's local glass production. The project is expected to be completed next year and is expected to create more than 1,000 direct jobs once it is fully completed.

The President delivered an important speech. He strongly praised the significance of the glass factory project, calling it a crucial milestone in Ghana's transition from an import-substitution to an export-oriented economy.

The President noted that Ghana currently relies heavily on imported glass products and expressed the hope that the new project will reverse this situation. “In 2024 alone, Ghana imported over 65,000 tons of glass products, worth nearly USD 25 million, to meet the needs of our construction, automotive, and manufacturing industries,” the President said. “With the full operation of this new project, Ghana will become a major glass exporter in the region.”

Mr. Yanchang SHEN, Chairman of Twyford International, recalled his exchange with the President last October, stating that the glass plant project is a concrete manifestation of the company's commitment to the Presidential Investment Forum and emphasizing the company's long-term investment and development strategy in Ghana.“Thanks to Ghana’s continuously improving investment environment and clear policy guidance, we have always regarded Ghana as one of the most promising and stable investment destinations in Africa, and are firmly committed to continuing to expand our investment in Ghana.” said Mr. Yanchang SHEN.

Mr. Lorry LI, General Manager of Twyford Ghana, reviewed the friendly cooperation between the company and the Ghanaian government, society, and people since its establishment, and expressed gratitude for the consistent support from the Ghanaian government. “This is another important milestone for the company, but it's just the beginning. We look forward to growing and developing together with Ghana, contributing more to the future of Ghana's manufacturing industry,” said Mr. Lorry Li.

On the same day, the President and his delegation also conducted a site visit of Twyford Ghana’s facilities. At the K6 ceramics production workshop and the sanitary ware production workshop, the President learned in detail about the company's product strength and brand influence in the international market, and fully affirmed the company's contributions to promoting local manufacturing development and export earnings. In front of the company's culture wall, the President learned about the company's development history and future plans, the company's charitable activities in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility over the years, and the nearly 100 letters of thanks received, which deeply moved him.

Twyford Ghana further strengthened its commitment to philanthropy on the same day. In the presence of the President and distinguished guests, Twyford Ghana donated products worth approximately 500,000 Cedis to 20 schools, health centers, and municipal units in the Western Province, and posed for a group photo with the recipients.

The successful completion of this event not only affirmed Ghana's continued investment in Ghana's manufacturing sector but also highly recognized the company's future contribution to Ghana's economic development. As the President stated on site, “As I stand here, I see reduced imports, increased exports, a stronger cedi, jobs for our youth, and Ghana emerging as a manufacturing leader in West Africa. This is not a dream, it is happening,” he said.

Currently, Twyford Ghana's domestic investments cover tiles, sanitary ware, and glass, with products exported to more than 20 countries and regions, including Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Togo, Benin, the United States, Italy, and Spain. Looking to the future, Twyford Ghana will actively respond to Ghana's "24-hour economy" policy, continuously upgrading its technology and capabilities to improve the development level of the local building materials industry with higher-quality products, and further enhance the "Made in Ghana" brand in the international market.
