A Decade of Transformation: How HLT Became a Leader in Aluminum Extrusion Machinery

loading... 26 Jun 2026
From ceramic presses to aluminum extrusion presses, HLT has spent the past decade successfully crossing industry boundaries. It has forged a path from standalone machines to complete line solutions, and from the Chinese market to the global stage.

In the machinery manufacturing industry, diversification into new sectors has never been easy. The industry is characterized by heavy capital investment and long development cycles. Different sectors come with distinct process requirements, customer expectations, and market dynamics. Every step forward presents new challenges. Yet some companies have proven over time that crossing industries is not merely a leap into the unknown. With the right capabilities, it can become a natural extension of existing strengths.

HLT is a prime example of this path.

Aluminum Extrusion Machinery R&D and Manufacturing Base

Since launching its aluminum extrusion machinery project in 2017, HLT has completed an extraordinary transformation in less than a decade—from a global champion in ceramic presses to a leader in China's aluminum extrusion machinery industry. For HLT, this journey is far more than a shift into a new market. It represents the successful transfer, evolution, and reconstruction of its core capabilities.

A Decade of Advancement: From a Press Specialist to a Complete-Line-Solution Aluminum Extrusion Provider

HLT's journey in aluminum extrusion machinery began in 2017.

At the time, HLT had already established itself as a global champion in ceramic presses, backed by more than 60 years of expertise in heavy-duty hydraulic machinery manufacturing. Faced with broader opportunities in the machinery industry, HLT chose not to pursue simple market expansion. Instead, it made a bold move: leveraging its extensive experience in ceramic press R&D and manufacturing to enter the aluminum extrusion sector. Later that year, the aluminum extrusion press project was officially launched.

In 2020, the YPL2000 aluminum-profile extrusion press was successfully developed and exported to Italy for the first time. This milestone represented more than a product breakthrough. It sent a clear signal that HLT's diversified press portfolio had officially taken shape.

Building on this momentum, the YPL6000 large-tonnage model was successfully commissioned in 2021 and quickly gained strong recognition from customers in both Chinese and international markets.

Between 2022 and 2023, HLT entered a period of rapid growth. With the commissioning of its Phase III intelligent manufacturing facility, annual shipments of HLT aluminum extrusion presses exceeded 100 units. During this period, another milestone project was delivered—the aluminum extrusion complete line solution for Chongqing Changan Automobile Components Intelligent Manufacturing Project. The successful implementation of this project marked a significant transformation for HLT. The company had evolved from a standalone machinery supplier into a provider of integrated, turnkey solutions.

Aluminum Extrusion Complete Line Solution Project

In 2025, HLT officially launched its reverse extrusion press series, with product models ranging from YPL800 to YPL15000. At the same time, the establishment of its Intelligent Machinery Company has enabled HLT to provide more comprehensive and specialized integrated smart aluminum extrusion complete line solutions for the global aluminum processing industry.

The Driving Force Behind Growth: A 3-Part Formula of Technology, Capital, and Products

Over the past decade, HLT has progressed from starting from scratch to becoming an industry leader. How did HLT achieve such a smooth transformation in less than 10 years? Its success was no coincidence. The logic behind HLT's rapid growth is both clear and systematic.

First, the technologies share the same foundation. This was not a leap into a completely new field, but rather an extension and upgrade of existing capabilities. At first glance, HLT appeared to be entering the extrusion machinery sector from the ground up. However, a closer look reveals that ceramic presses and aluminum extrusion presses share many core technologies, including machine frame structures, heavy-duty hydraulic systems, closed-loop electrical control systems, and finite element analysis.

Drawing on nearly 70 years of hydraulic technology expertise, HLT successfully transferred its proprietary high-pressure variable hydraulic systems, prestressed frame structures, AMESim hydraulic simulation technology, and fully integrated 3D FEM strength verification technology to aluminum extrusion machinery. This strategy of leveraging common underlying technologies while upgrading application-specific capabilities significantly reduced trial-and-error costs and accelerated HLT's development.

Second, HLT addressed long-standing industry challenges through its complete production solution. Had HLT focused solely on manufacturing standalone machines, it likely would not have gained industry recognition so quickly. Its complete-line-solution integration strategy has become a key competitive advantage. Traditional aluminum extrusion lines typically rely on machinery supplied by multiple vendors. Extrusion presses, heating furnaces, online quenching systems, and pullers are often sourced separately. This fragmented model frequently leads to unclear responsibilities during commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as machinery compatibility issues. These challenges can significantly affect production ramp-up efficiency and operational stability.

To address these industry pain points, HLT committed to an independently developed complete line solution. The company now designs and manufactures all major machinery in-house, including heating furnaces, extrusion presses, online quenching systems, pullers, stretchers, cooling tables, and MES systems. Core supporting systems such as electrical controls and hydraulic systems are also independently developed and designed. Through integrated system design, HLT eliminates many of the challenges associated with multi-brand machinery configurations, significantly improving line coordination, product changeover efficiency, operational stability, and lifecycle maintenance support.

HLT's comprehensive product portfolio meets the needs of various industries. After nearly a decade of development, HLT has established a comprehensive product portfolio ranging from 800-ton to 12,500-ton capacities, including a full range of indirect extrusion presses. Its solutions serve major market segments including architectural aluminum, new energy vehicles, solar panel frames, consumer electronics, and energy storage. HLT has earned the trust of numerous industry leaders and well-known enterprises. In the architectural aluminum profile sector, its machinery has been successfully adopted by Xingfa, JMA, YKK Corporation, and Hyundai Korea. In the new energy vehicle sector, it has been deployed by leading companies including Changan Automobile, APALT, Shanghai Unison, Alnera Aluminium, and Guangdong Hoshion. In the photovoltaic and energy storage sectors, customers include Yonz Technology, Press Metal(PMI), and CITIC Bohai. In the consumer electronics sector, HLT machinery has been successfully adopted by benchmark customers such as Taishan Kam Kiu and Shandong Innovation.

As these flagship projects have been successfully implemented, customers have widely recognized the advantages of HLT extrusion machinery, including high output, superior product yield, reduced labor requirements, energy efficiency, and low maintenance costs. As a result, the company's reputation and industry influence have grown rapidly.

In addition, HLT's ability to sustain long-term growth is supported by the financial strength of its publicly listed parent company,KEDA Industrial Group. For companies expanding into capital-intensive machinery manufacturing, one of the greatest risks is insufficient capital investment and the inability to scale production capacity in line with market demand. Backed by ,KEDA Industrial Group's listed platform, HLT has benefited from strong support in both capital resources and manufacturing capacity. Over the past several years, the company has established a high-end intelligent digital factory and 3 dedicated aluminum extrusion machinery production facilities. Equipped with large-scale CNC boring and milling machines as well as automated machining lines, HLT has increased its annual production capacity to 300 units.

Finally, HLT's success stems from both shoring up its weaknesses and leveraging its existing strengths. The greatest challenge in diversification is often not expanding capabilities in familiar areas, but developing expertise in fields where a company has limited experience. To address the talent challenge, HLT assembled a multidisciplinary R&D team covering hydraulics, mechanical engineering, extrusion processes, and automation. The company also recruited a number of experienced extrusion specialists, ultimately achieving independent development of a complete portfolio of direct and indirect extrusion presses ranging from 800 tons to 12,500 tons. Meanwhile, HLT has continued to strengthen its intellectual property portfolio. To date, the aluminum extrusion machinery business has been granted 54 patents, including 5 invention patents and 49 utility model patents, further reinforcing its technological competitiveness.

While addressing capability gaps, HLT has also fully leveraged the strengths it had already built over decades. Its ceramic press business has established distributor and service networks across more than 40 countries and regions globally. These resources have provided a strong foundation for the expansion of its aluminum extrusion business as well. In 2024 alone, international orders accounted for more than 40% of HLT's aluminum extrusion machinery business. The same advantage is evident in the Chinese market. Many leading aluminum manufacturers, already familiar with and confident in the HLT brand, quickly became loyal customers of its aluminum extrusion machinery business.

Business Coverage Regions (Selected Markets)

Looking back on the past decade, HLT did not rely on market trends or short-term opportunities. Instead, it steadily expanded by building on its core strengths. It did not pursue low-end, volume-driven growth; rather, it addressed real industry challenges through complete plant solutions. Nor did it grow alone—it effectively leveraged the advantages provided by a publicly listed platform. Its journey demonstrates a simple truth: when a company possesses deep and transferable core capabilities, entering a new market is not about starting over. It is about telling a new story with the same underlying strengths.
